St. Gallen is the capital of the canton of the same name. With a population of around 80,000, the university city is the economic centre of Eastern Switzerland and enjoys a rich cultural life with a variety of theatres, a vibrant music scene and various museums. The city centre features historical old town architecture, the Abbey Precinct, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and all the amenities that a large city has to offer.
The city’s culinary offerings range from the simple Beizli to a Michelin-starred restaurant and, when it comes to sport, St. Gallen has everything your heart desires: indoor and outdoor swimming pools, an ice sports centre, cross-country skiing trails and a football stadium.
